David Dashkovsky

David Dashkovsky was an advisor to the Jewish agricultural colonies established with the help of the JDC. He was arrested in 1937 by the NKVD on the charge of “participation in a counter-revolutionary Jewish bourgeois-nationalistic spy organization created by German intelligence.” Dashkovsky was sentenced to death and executed in 1938. He was “rehabilitated” (his name was officially cleared) in 1956.

David Kalmanovich Dashkovsky, born in 1885 in Zvenigorodka, Kiev gubernia, was an Agro-Joint agronomist who lived and worked in the Crimea Region. Dashkovsky was arrested on July 14, 1937, by the NKVD (People’s Commissariat of Internal Affairs). On October 29, 1938, he was sentenced to death, with his personal property to be confiscated, by the NKVD Troika of the Crimean SSAR (Soviet Socialist Autonomous Republic) on the charge of “participation in a counter-revolutionary Jewish bourgeois-nationalistic spy organization created by German intelligence.” He was executed the following day. Dashkovsky was “rehabilitated” (his name was officially cleared) by the Military Tribunal of the Odessa Military District on August 17, 1956.
